Chelsea Wallen, Psy.D Candidate
Chelsea Wallen is currently a second year student enrolled in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology Program (Psy.D.) at Marshall University. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Marshall University in 2018 with a minor in Criminal Justice.
Raised in Beckley, West Virginia, Chelsea worked with children and their families living in underserved areas through the AmeriCorps program. This experience allowed her to understand the struggles of living in rural Appalachia and the barriers community members face when seeking mental health treatment. Accordingly, Chelsea’s decision to stay in West Virginia and become a Clinical Psychologist was directly influenced by her time working for this program.
Currently, Chelsea is completing her doctoral practicum requirements at the Marshall University Psychology Clinic. Additionally, she works as a study group facilitator for international students at Marshall who are taking psychology classes. She is pursuing her research interests by conducting a study for her Doctoral Dissertation looking at clinician attitudes and bias in treating sexual offenders. Chelsea is positioned to graduate in 2023 and hopes to work in a correctional facility in West Virginia as a Clinical Psychologist.
