Glenville State College
Glenville State College, often referred to as the Lighthouse on the Hill, is West Virginia's only centrally located public college.
Founded in 1872 to provide instruction and practice for common school teachers in the science of education, Glenville State College has surpassed its original mission, and currently prepares students for careers in teaching, business, land resources, music, the liberal arts, the sciences, criminal justice, and human services.
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), provides health care to people who are geographically isolated, and/or economically or medically vulnerable. This includes people living with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, mothers and their families, and those otherwise unable to access high quality health care.
Health Sciences & Technology Academy (HSTA)
The Health Sciences & Technology Academy (HSTA) is a one-of-a-kind mentoring program in the state of West Virginia that helps participating high school students enter and succeed in STEM-based undergraduate and graduate degree programs. HSTA marshals the efforts of hundreds of mentors―teachers, community members, higher-education faculty and staff, and the HSTA participants themselves―through a framework that supports students facing social and financial challenges to obtaining a diploma and moving on to college.
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM)
The mission of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) is to educate students from diverse backgrounds as lifelong learners in osteopathic medicine and complementary health related programs; to support and develop graduate medical education training; to advance scientific knowledge through academic, clinical and basic science research; and to promote patient-centered, evidence based medicine. WVSOM is dedicated to serve, first and foremost, the state of West Virginia and the health care needs of its residents, emphasizing primary care in rural areas.
West Virginia University: Institute for Community and Rural Health
WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health (WVU ICRH) continues to support scholarships for professional students in exchange for a commitment to practice in underserved areas of the state. We also are involved in health career programs for rural high school students via WV HSTA (Health Sciences and Technology Academy). During the spring semester we hold our annual WVU Rural Health Day for undergraduate students who have an interest in medicine from colleges and universities throughout West Virginia and adjoining states.
West Virginia University: Eastern Campus
The West Virginia University Eastern Campus (WVU Eastern) serves the nine-county, eastern panhandle of West Virginia through clinical partnerships with WVU Medicine's Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg and Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson. Both hospitals provide opportunities for those wishing to explore training in the rural healthcare setting.
The Eastern campus has an immersive longitudinal curriculum for third-year medical students with many one-on-one student to faculty experiences in all disciplines. The campus further focuses on the state's burden of diabetes, obesity, heart disease and stroke through a new WVU Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health.
Williamson Health & Wellness Center
The Williamson Health & Wellness Center is a Federally Qualified Health Care Center located in Williamson West Virginia. The Center’s primary mission is to build a culture of health by providing affordable, obtainable, and reliable healthcare through holistic community and clinical interventions in order to stimulate a thriving local economy centered on wellness for the entire population.
